Catching lizards

One thing our house has is plenty of lizards.  Itty bitty baby ones and big fat pregnant ones.  I like them hanging around because they eat the spiders, and I do NOT like spiders.  Wyatt loves to catch the lizards and Alexis will try but gets a little freaked out.

This little girl tries too but prefers to catch crickets.

Remembering...

Remembering the men and women that lost their lives 10 years ago.
Remembering the children that lost their mothers and fathers 10 years ago.
Remembering the mothers and fathers who lost their children 10 years ago.
Remembering the brothers and sisters that lost their siblings 10 years ago.
Too many lives were lost and 10 years later I WILL NOT FORGET!!
What kind of person runs into burning buildings when everyone else is running out?  A hero.  Everyday these heros risk their lives to save others.  I married a hero.  I married someone who runs into burning buildings and comes home with black stuff coming out of his nose.  I married someone that loves his job and wants to protect and help other people.   Today we celebrated the lives lost of the innocent people that were affected by 9-11 and for the firefighters and police doing their job to save them.  We celebrated the military for fighting for our freedom and keeping us safe.
These boys did a remembrance hike this morning climbing 1.5 miles up 1500 feet of elevation (totaling 3 miles) on a  hike symbolizing the steps and distance in the towers that the firefighters climbed.
About 200 people from our community showed up for the event.

The fire department put on a ceremony for the town with beautiful speeches, music, and performers.  There were military, police and fire personnel with all their apparatus on display.

We will never forget what happened that September day!

All smiles from this boy

After a successful day yesterday I was really hopeful that today would be just as great.  As I was putting Wyatt to bed last night he became very angry, hitting his pillow, and telling me that he never wants to go to preschool.  Oh boy, sound familiar?  By the next morning he was all smiles and ready to go.

He actually wanted me to drop him off before dropping his sister off.   Anthony was with us this time and as he drove to school I had already started tearing up.  Wyatt was seriously happy as can be but that whole thing about my baby is growing up wouldn't get out of my mind.

He did wonderful, I cried {sobbed whatever you want to call it} and finally calmed down after about 30 minutes.  I came home and had 3 hours to myself {Anthony needed a nap from being up at work} so I was able to catch up on Bachelor Pad.  What a train wreck!  Totally addicted to it though :)

The big send off

Yesterday morning started out like this.  Absolutely beautiful.  I have been really nervous about how Alexis was going to do going back to school.  If you want to know why, check this post out.  {Anthony ended up not being able to come with us for yet another first day of school}  I started praying really hard for her to have peace and comfort when returning back to school.  I prayed for my own calmness as well.

Our day ended with an amazing rainbow and breathtaking sunset.  The day was full of Gods love.

As I was tucking Alexis into bed I did the usual read a story and end with singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".  Something that I have done since she was born.  Mainly because this is the only song that I can ever remember and it seems so soothing.  This time it was different.  I made it to the second verse and as I was rubbing her back I got choked up.  Realizing that it seems so recent that she was a baby and the thought of sending her off to school hadn't even crossed my mind.  I am an emotional person.  I am completely aware of that.  I would cry when the kids out grew their 0-3 month clothes and then again their 3-6 month.  It kept happening.  I can't stop them from growing.  I want to make their life perfect and I don't want them to ever experience heartache or pain.  I had a hard time sleeping and I woke up very nervous.  Alexis woke up crying that she did not want to go to school.  Actually she said she wasn't going!  I was pretty bummed because I felt let down that my prayers weren't answered and we weren't feeling that sense of calmness and peace I needed.

With a few of these and more prayers, something clicked and she was a different girl.

All smiles and ready to go!! We said good-bye to daddy as he went off to work and we headed for school.

Still smiling

She found her good friend right away and I could feel her tension release and joy return.  Thank God!
There were NO TEARS!!!

Come back tomorrow to see how Wyatt's first day of preschool goes...

Catching my breath

2:30 in the morning I awoke to a nice deep yawn.  A minute later, another yawn.  It kept happening.  Kind of weird to be in a deep sleep and need to yawn.  Soon I was needing to take a deep breath to get that satisfying feeling but couldn't get it.  I sat up and tried, ahhh success.  As I lied back down I noticed I was breathing very shallow.  What the heck was happening??  Thankfully my heroic paramedic was home so I woke him up. "Honey? Are you awake?  I'm having trouble breathing."  That got him up pretty quickly.  Next, I did what anyone in their right mind would do in the middle of the night and I got on the trusty internet.  I'm pretty close to obtaining my MD with all the hours I spend researching.  I just need to find a way to write prescriptions because I have the self diagnosing part all figured out.  I think what is happening is related to the mitochondrial myopathy I have.  You can read more about that HERE.  I could always call the doctor in the morning but 1) They won't know and 2) I finally have a hair cut appointment.  Not canceling that.  It is now 2 hours later, 4:30 in the morning.  I'm too afraid to fall  back to sleep.  So I pray.  And I pray.  I pray hard because He is in control and He will take care of everything.  For that I am thankful.  Speaking of Thankful....

It's Thursday so lets be Thankful!!!
Here's what I am thankful for:

My husband.  He mopped the floors today yesterday and cooked dinner. That's all I need to say.
Actually, I have more to say about him.
He is a great father!

I am thankful for his love
I am thankful for his abilities
I am thankful for the man that he is

What are you thankful for today?
